necessity to accessory

with 5 comments

isn’t it funny how sometimes things designed for necessity somehow find their way into the consumer economy and become a “fad” or a “trend”?  i was driving home from class today when i saw a dude with a camo backpack and camo hat.  it got me thinking, i guess people buy camo things because they like the design and not so much because they don’t want people to see them.  i mean, camo was originally used in the army so that the enemy could not see them when they were against a green environment.  suddenly it’s (kind of) a fashion trend.  i was thinking if i was some other country and i knew the us army was about to invade my country, i’d go and paint all the trees white or something.  and you know that desert camo they have?  i’d just paint the sand blue.  man, would the us army’s face be red.  i’d be revered as a hero and there’d be a holiday named after me.  what if i were president?

  1. You missed an “in” in the sentence “i was thinking if i was some other country.” I do it all the time. Skip a word. The name of your site is really clever :]

  2. actually, not to be a jerk or anything, but i really did mean “if i was some other country” as if i was speaking as a country. kinda like, “if i was someone else…” maybe it just makes sense in my head. i know your way is grammatically correct though. thank you for noticing. that stuff always gets to me too when i read other peoples’ blogs and they have grammatical errors. proofread people!!

  5. To join in the nitpickery………

Actually, you wish you were another country, in the lonely and forgotten subjunctive mood.

Sigh. What a silly and pointless degree I spent five and a half years getting, no? The world has abandoned at least half of what I studied.
