new music

i don’t know if this exists or not, but i wish there was some kind of website where you could input what you are looking for in new music (i.e. an awesome drummer, smooth vocals, sick electronic synths, classical violins, chill music, etc.) and then the website would spit out a list of links to samples of artists that you’ve never heard of, old and new, from which you could go and download.  btw, i’m a big defender of legal downloading.  please don’t steal music!  as an artist, i would be pretty hurt if people downloaded my stuff illegally.  i mean, if you’re that strapped for cash, i would give you a cd or something (if and when i do produce a cd).

i mean, i’m familiar with itunes and pandora, which are awesome sites.  and from what i hear amazon has a nice site where you can download itunes compatible mp3’s.  once you buy stuff on itunes it gives you other artists that you might like based on your purchases.  and pandora is pretty cool because it’s online radio where you can choose the genre of music you want to listen to and it plays other artists that you’ve probably never heard of in that same genre.  but i mean, those are nice and all, but i’m looking for more specifics.  i want an catchy, emo band with a good lead vocalist and a sick drummer.  or i want a non-sexual r&b singer with smooth vocals and runs that kids could slide up and down on.  non-sexual r&b singer?  does that exist?  and i’m pretty sure “runs that kids could slide up and down on” would be kinda wordy to fit in a drop-down menu.  anyway, that’s what i’m looking for in a music site.

does anyone know any sites like this?  i’ve been itching for some new music, but word of mouth just ain’t cuttin’ it.  i need to check it out for myself.

  2. This is not exactly what you’re looking for, well, it’s not even close.

    But check out

I think the site’s well designed and pretty sweet.
I like artist named Kate Earl. Her one song Melody is really good.

On a side note, that’s site’s built using Python. Isnt that awesome?

  4. […] an r&b singer, but instead of being one of those smooth, sexy types, i’d be one of those non-sexual r&b singers.  yeah, that’s what i’m talkin’ about.  with my lack of smoothness, the ladies […]
