i wrote a song… in my mind

on paper

so on my wordpress site, i get to see different stats on who views my site and such.  one of the features is it shows if anyone googles or uses search engines to get to your site.  one of the phrases someone googled was, “why are asian guys unpopular”.  i was somewhat offended, but laughed when i realized how true it is (unfortunately) =(

so have you ever wondered how other people view you?  i know i have.  what kind of characteristics stand out?  have you ever wondered what you look like on paper?  you know, like your stats?  maybe what you feel are your strong points are really what other people don’t even think about.  or maybe something that you tend to disregard is actually something that other people view very strongly of you.

another way to look at it is that some people by our perception aren’t really that great of a person.  whether it be our own biases or maybe stereotypes.  or maybe it’s just by looks.  i know i do this:  that guy just looks like a jerk, therefore he must be.  or, that girl looks good, she must have a great personality!  however, when we put them down on paper, we see that the guy who looks like a jerk actually has a heart of gold or the girl who looks good is actually a jerk and uses people (maybe i’m writing this from personal experience?  j/k)

so i think about this sometimes.  what do i look like on paper?  and this is what i got:

(this is going to be on a plus/minus scale, and mind you, i’m trying to be completely honest yet maybe a little facetious at the same time.  this is really hard to do on yourself i realized after i started it)

appearance: C+ (i think i’m being generous with the +, or maybe with the C…)

education (school completion): B

intelligence: A- (based on grades and people making fun of me for being a nerd)

skills (my skillset): B- (i don’t really know how to do many things)

talents: A

athletic ability: C- (i think i’m only good at 1 sport)

manners: B-

humor: A-

personality: B

i think i look pretty good on paper.  i have maybe a solid B average going on (much like undergrad). whether or not this is true in how other people view me is a different story

so i realize that it’s really hard to give yourself a grade on these different aspects.  even more harder to do it without a personal bias.  you all can correct me if you think i’m wrong.  but what grades would you give yourself?

  1. you should have a height category. anything over 5’10” is an ~86%. Every inch above that gives around +2%.
