trail mix thoughts

with 7 comments

so every tuesday and thursday, i have classes all day.  i get pretty hungry half-way through my second class so i usually bring some trail mix to munch on during class.  lately i started to share with my buddy who sits next to me.  so while i was eating my trail mix today, a couple thoughts came to mind (meanwhile, lecture was going on).

for the longest time i thought reeses pieces were competitors with m&m’s.  and i guess to some extent they are, but i always thought that reese’s pieces were the same thing – candy-coated chocolate.  i never thought for a second that reese’s pieces had anything to do with reese’s peanut butter cups.  whenever i ate reese’s pieces, i would think, man, these m&m’s taste weird.  after i realized that they were actually candy-coated peanut butter, i enjoyed them a lot more.

i always thought it’d be a pretty mean trick to replace all the m&m’s in trail mix with skittles.  imagine getting a handfull of peanuts, raisins, and fruit, chewy, candy.  mmmm…  maybe i’ll do this to someone sometime.

at the end of my trail mix bag, it seems the only thing left are peanuts.  why is this?  my theory is that peanuts are just harder to grab than everything else.  raisins are bigger and funny shaped so they’d be easier to grab, m&m’s are colorful so they’d be next, and in my trail mix i have chocolate and peanut butter drops.  i always go for the peanut butter drops cause they’re awesome, so that just leaves the peanuts.  poor peanuts.  maybe if they didn’t take up half the bag i would feel bad for them.

btw, my trail mix of choice is target’s archer farms monster trail mix.  so good!

  4. i make my own too. with bigger chunks. because of that, peanuts trickle down all the way to the bottom of the bag. by then, the bag’s already beat up and peanuts don’t look that great..

  5. when i found out trail mix has crazy amt of calories, i went cold turkey. best way to enjoy trail mix is to actually not eat each out individually but to grab a hand full and chew.. that way peanuts won’t get left out. trust me, it tastes a whole lot better. 🙂
