i wrote a song… in my mind

why am i here?

no, i’m not getting all philosophical on you.  this is question i asked myself as i found myself walking into target.

has this ever happened to you?  you know you have to go somewhere.  you get in your car and you arrive, and as soon as you get there, you know you had to go there, but you have absolutely no idea why are you there.  happens to me allll the time.  i think i ended up staying there for about an hour or so trying to figure out why i was there.

i wrote a “to buy” list that i’ve been keeping for the past month or so.  i knew i had to go to target to buy something.  so i decided today would be the day.  too bad i didn’t look at my list before i went.  i ended up walking around the entire store looking for what could have possibly been on the list, while in my mind i was going through different categories: bathroom stuff, food, clothes, electronics, candy, office, cd’s/dvd’s.

so this is what i came up with and walked out with (cause i’m sure you all are curious): shaving gel, a loofa, body wash, the new anberlin cd, and a trash can.  seriously, a friggin’ hour to find this junks.  what kind of person does that?  although i did get pretty distracted by the music section.

speaking of music, i’ve been listening on some r&b lately.  i’m loving the chill beats and the sexual innuendos.  man, i would so love to be an r&b singer, but instead of being one of those smooth, sexy types, i’d be one of those non-sexual r&b singers.  yeah, that’s what i’m talkin’ about.  with my lack of smoothness, the ladies would be repelled.  “hey girl, it takes me an hour to shop for a loofa and body wash.  you sure you don’t wanna get with this?”  smooth.  real smooth.

  2. @ hg: the funny thing is, whenever i’m trying to write an r&b song, i do that same “giiiirl!”

  3. I disagree with you when you say that you have a lack of smoothness. I remember Laron called you Hootie one time. I think that your singing voice sounds a lottle like John Mayer. But you have an eclectic taste in muzak because you like emo music. I’ve always wondered if you liked screamo, because I could picture you doing r&b but never screamo. I dunno, it just seems hard to picture you screaming (unless we’re on nintendo wi-fi when you say “freaking!”)

I DO write so much more here than my own blog! 😛

  4. why don’t you try taking the to-buy list with you? or text it to yourself, have a recording, write in on your hand, make a rhyme about the things you need to buy…etc etc.

oh, and to comment on your previous post about halloween–
    how about
*cowboy? -need: bandana, a vest of some sort, a badge (you can get this at walmart)
*nerd- need: electrical tape (tape this around a pair of glasses), suspenders, long pants you can hike up (though this may teach kids to laugh at nerds…which isn’t a good thing to teach them…)
*gym teacher- need: whistle, gym clothes…
*teacher/librarian- need: sweater vest; khakis; glasses on one of those necklace things (am i going to far with this teach theme? ^__^)
*artist- need; beret, (whatever you think artists wear), paint brush, smock of some kind
*chef- need: chef’s hat, apron, some kind of cooking utensil
*rapper-need: bling blings, loose clothing, perhaps a mic.

wow! i feel so creative today!

  7. ah, target distractions…i usually know exactly what i need to buy when i leave the house, when i’m driving to target, and when i walk towards target. but as soon as i step inside, i get sidetracked by all the stuff i don’t need (usually it’s all the different kinds of cereal and hair products) =)
