car posse

with 10 comments

highwayyou ever go on those road trips and you’ve found a good pack of cars to roll with?  you know those groups of cars that are going pretty fast so that you can join with them without feeling guilty of speeding cause technically you’re going with the flow of traffic.  it takes a while to find this group of cars.  this is because you have to wait for a group of speedier cars to come up from behind you.  they’re not going to come from ahead because obviously if you’re driving at one speed and catching up with cars, they’re not going to be going at the pace that you want to go with.  so you kind of have to wait for a pack of cars to come up behind you and then you just follow them along.

the bad part is, if you ever have to get off the road for a gas or food stop, you’ve lost your posse and have to start the process again.  i think the worst part is when you get back on the road you have to re-pass all those cars that you passed before, some of which were a pain to pass.

so there are different positions in this posse:

the leader – you don’t even care if there’s a posse to follow, you’re hauling anyways.  you don’t wait to follow other people, people wait to follow you.

the faithful follower – you’re always behind the same cars, you’re on autopilot once you’ve found your posse

the perpetual distraction – you always lose your posse and therefore must continually find a new posse.  you get so distracted by every roadkill, road sign, or road construction that you lose your place in line and have to wait for the next one.

so what position do you fall into?

  2. I used to be the leader, until I got slapped with two speeding fine (over $350 total).

Now I’m the #1 faithful follower

  6. i think i’m the faithful follower. i’m always the last one. while driving, ppl call me in the front and tell me to go faster and follow better. i think i keep the group behind. oops : ) hey, but that’s why i’ve never gotten a speeding ticket. hehe.

  10. oh yeah, another reason why i gotta do my own thing and scout for cops myself: due to my bling-blingy car color, i can’t get away with speeding tickets by blending in the crowd of cars..
