dark_knight_poster_13_harvey_denti find it really interesting that so many people use the phrase “fish and chips” in search engines to find my site.  it bottles the mind.

so i’ve realized that one-on-one me is totally different than group setting me.  one-on-one me is very quiet, reserved, and a little (or maybe a lot) awkward.  he’s the more pensive, emo, calm and serious one.  group setting me however, is the loud, funny, and (semi) smooth guy.  he’s the story-teller, optimistic, goofy one.

i’ve realized this with other people as well though.  unless people are just different when they’re one-on-one with me.  people who are the funny, goofy joke-makers turn into the reserved, serious conversationist when they’re with me.  i’m pretty sure i’m not the one who brings it out of them.  i think everyone (or most people at least) have this quality about them.  they have their one-on-one personality and then they have their group setting personality.  i think i might know some people whose one-on-one and group setting personalities are pretty similar.  these people i would label as: comfortable.

so what is it about one-on-one situations that make people act differently?  is it just that we’re fueled by other people that a one-on-one situation doesn’t do for us?  or is it just that we find that we need to tone ourselves down with just one other person present?  or maybe, more philosophically, there’s is a need in us to talk on a more serious and deeper level when we’re with one other person that we just can’t do in a group setting.  i’d like to say it is the latter reason, but then again, i’m not sure.

what are your one-on-one and group setting personalities like?  and why do you think that is?
