collector of…

what do you collect?  i have a friend that collects baby jordans.  no no, not babies named jordan.  air jordan shoes, specifically made for babies.

my theory is that every person collects something, whether they are conscious of it or not.  by collect, i mean – something you purchase or gather almost impulsively even though you have no “need” of one, or something you can’t ever seem to have enough of that’s not a necessity.

me?  i collect headphones.  for some reason, i always find myself looking for new headphones.  i have pleeeeeeeenty of headphones: noise-canceling, over the ear, around the ear, around the head, a couple apple headphones, recording headphones, headphones with heavy bass… and yet i continue to look for more.  to my credit, i haven’t bought headphones in a very long time, but i find myself continuing to shop for them.  it’s when i’ve been staring at a pair for a little while that i realize, “i don’t need headphones.  why am i looking at these?”

also bags.

perhaps this is what women stereotypically do with shoes or purses.  i know my mom would stop at every shoe store in the mall when my sister and i were kids following her around.  these were times of rest for me after chasing after her freakishly quick footsteps.

what do you collect?

  3. i like bags as well. but it’s become an expensive thing to collect. i also noticed i get tired of bags too so i find myself selling and buying new ones. but i’m happy with my small timbuk2, which people have claimed to be a murse and a couple of other bags. with the digital age i find myself collecting apps. i actually do a lot of research on apps before purchasing them for my iphone. i just want the best purchase for the tasks that i perform with my phone.

i’ve been using some headphones from thinksound. i’ve enjoyed them a lot. but i’m not much of a sound guy. i just thought they were cool for bring made out of recycled wood.

  4. I used to collect marvel cards, basketball cards, pogs, video games and other random stuff. Now I collect bones after I eat ribs of awesomeness at Community BBQ. Seriously though, I collect memories of happiness, joy and laughter. For what could be better than the shared intimacy between two people laughing when they understand each other, truly and fully. Man, this is so cheesy.
