90 percent rice, 10 percent meat
i’m really good at rationing out food so that i finish everything at the same time. i can finish a half gallon milk at the same time i finish a box of cereal. i can finish a plateful of rice with a small amount of meat. i could probably even find a way to finish 10 hot dogs at the same time as the pack of 8 hot dog buns. what can i say? its my superpower. the thing is, i’m not even conscious of doing it. it just happens. sometimes i start a meal and the next thing i know, i have a bite left of each of my different foods.
where this doesn’t work is with foods i don’t like. i grew up eating the stuff i didn’t like first to get it out of the way. where this backfired is when my parents would put more of the bad stuff on my plate because they thought i liked it so much i ate it first. gross…
i think one of the things that frustrates me is when i have extra of one thing and not enough of another. for instance, if i have some sandwich bread left with nothing to put in it or cereal with no milk. i mean, you gotta have one with the other. you just gotta. so sad when the foods don’t have a partner.
i saw a 6th grader eat 8 hot dogs this past weekend
